Knicks may make room for Houston, offer more money

The New Jersey Nets have invited shooting guard Allan Houston to training camp on a "make good" contract for the veteran's minimum. Houston has received the same offer from other teams, but his former team, the New York Knicks, could up the ante for his coming out of retirement.

According to league sources, the Knicks might offer Houston part of their midlevel exception, and could clear some roster space to make room for him. They have 17 players under contract, including three shooting guards.
